Ingredients

  • ½ onion
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 clove garlic (5 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 3 ounces 96% lean ground beef (84 g)
  • 5 ounces diced tomatoes (140 g)
  • ½ cube vegetable bouillon
  • 1 cup water (237 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (ground spice) (2 g)
  • 3 ounces macaroni, whole wheat (84 g)

Preparing this recipe

  1. Chop the onion, mince the garlic and dice the bell pepper and carrot.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, bell pepper and carrot to the beef and cook for about 5 minutes, until tender.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, bouillon cube and water. Mix well. Add paprika, salt and pepper, and stir thoroughly.
  5. Add the uncooked macaroni, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat. Cover and let it simmer for about 12 minutes, until the pasta is cooked and most of the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Add a splash of water if it gets too dry.

1. For a vegetarian version, simply use lentils instead of ground beef.
2. Add the water gradually so you can adjust the thickness of the goulash to your liking.
