Ingredients

  • 1 bell pepper
  • 5 ounces mushrooms (140 g)
  • 1 scallion
  • 4 ounces bean sprouts (112 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 3 ounces beef strips (84 g)
  • 1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce (15 ml)
  • ½ tablespoon honey (10 g)
  • 1 pita, whole wheat

Preparing this recipe

  1. Cut the bell pepper into strips. Quarter the mushrooms. Slice the scallion into rings. Rinse the bean sprouts in a colander under cold water and let them drain.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the bell pepper and mushrooms for 4 minutes on high heat. Lower the heat and add the beef strips along with the soy sauce and honey, cooking for another 4 minutes. Turn off the heat and stir in the bean sprouts last. Season the mixture with pepper and salt.
  3. Meanwhile, toast the pita bread in a toaster or on a grill pan.
  4. Open the pita bread. Fill half of it with the beef mixture and serve the rest on the side of the bread.

Use a peeler to cut ribbons from a carrot and add these along with the bean sprouts to the pan at the end.
